More gravel

Today's first stop was Menefee Stone. I just left the scale house here and headed up to the stone piles. #57 stone is at the top of the hill to the left.
Nothing runs like a Deere. This one seemed to run just fine. It is big enough to run right over my truck, but the guys here really know what they are doing.
He poured .87 tons in the bed, a pretty good load for a half ton truck.
Most of the load was used filling in the corner of the driveway to the sidewalk. It was rounded before. Now it's nice and square. That left me with a couple extra sidewalk stones.
I tightened them up and made them straight again. I also started a small gravel walkway to the shed, but only got a couple of feet done. A ton of stone sounds like a lot, but it doesn't go very far.

Moe's new ride

I picked this "goat gofer" in Liberty today. We'll be using it for sheep, but it will work just fine.
It's about 3X4 and cab high on the truck. Moe and associates should fit just fine. It will be a lot easier than hauling the horse trailer for the smaller animals. Moe will be using it May 10 for his ride to Flemingsburg.

Trench filling

The first load of mishap-free dirt for the trenches across the yard.
There was a rather deep spot here that took a lot more of the load than I had thought it would.
All filled in, seeded and covered. I got about 20 or 30 feet filled with this load, but the next one will go farther. The trench is much shallower from here on.

Trucks

They did a nice job on the box of my truck. It looks much better than the "before" picture.
Heather's truck with the new alternator. Jim said it was last replaced in '95, so it lasted quite a while.

Starting the pasture reconditioning

The horses and excessive rain had left the pasture pretty rough.
Almost done with the barn area. I was running circles around the barn just like the horses did while waiting for their food.
The wheeler got a workout today. The drag is a couple of railroad ties with chainlink. That's a lot of dead weight and friction. I had to stop a couple of times and let the wheeler cool down.
This is one of those times. I'm on the last section to be done, over near the house. The white post is marking the ground rod from the electric fence. I didn't want to hit that.
The pasture all done. It's not quite as smooth as Lisa & Jim's pasture, but it still looks good. We will do the seeding tomorrow. The wind was blowing too hard to do it today.
