Power pole and septic system

A power pole! They finally came out and put it in. We're not hooked to it yet, though. They have to wait for the fire marshal to inspect the place before they will hook it to the house.
The septic system is all hooked up and working. I took the trailer tongue off today, too. It looks much neater with it off, and makes it easier to put the skirting on. We're almost done!

We have stairs

We now have stairs to the front door. Lisa and Jim were over today and helped me put the porch in place.
This looks kind of weird, but this is how we got the porch over to the front door. I used the chainsaw to shorten the legs about 10 inches to fit under the door.

We have a mailbox, too. Jim and I dug the hole for the post. I finished putting it up after they left. Then I did some painting inside.

Almost finished

The front yard trench for the water line has been filled in now.
The break-off line for the water toward the barn has been filled in. The open trench you see is for the power company. They haven't been out to put in the pole yet.

The septic drain field is covered and smoothed out.

The view the other way across the yard with the power trench.

Heather's new working water hydrant.

It's Here! It's Here!

This one is from yesterday, after they finished raising the tank to where it had to be.
The line running out to the diverter box and the finished drainfield.

The new trench for the water line.

The start of the covering process. They will use a bulldozer to finish it off. It does a better job with the grading part.

The water line going out toward the barn. We're putting in a hydrant on the edge of the horse pasture so it's easier to water the animals.

The trailer coming down the road to our lot.

Turning it in was a bit more difficult due to the narrow roads.

On the lot and backing it in over the pilings.

They line up perfectly. Good job, everyone!

Leveled and unhooked. The truck is ready to pull out. They still have to put in the tie-downs and then it's ready to get hooked up to the utilities. I'm still working on that part, but the power company is supposed to mark the pole location for us tomorrow morning. Then we can dig another trench for that.

Empty storage room

The truck and trailer loaded with everything from the smaller storage room. Things of note are the log splitter, the small mower, Heather's truck dash, and my automotive tools. (at least, most of them)
The new hasp and padlock on the barn doors. Not Fort Knox, but it should keep the stuff safe until we get there.

Porch moved and septic progress

Lisa and I got the porch loaded up and moved out to the property today. The porch is 6X8 and fairly heavy, as well as being akward.
The porch at it's new home, but off to the side and out of the way, waiting for the home to get there. I will probably have to trim the height some, but we'll see.

The bare front of the trailer. There is nothing left to get in the way of pulling it out now.

The septic system is all dug now. There are large piles of dirt behind the back set of the pilings. The lid to the tank is visible in front of the dirt with the rest of the tank already underground.

I see progress and that makes me happy. There is still a lot to be done, but it will be home soon.

Barn repairs

I picked up some new heavy duty barn door hinges at Lowe's last night and started on the doors this afternoon.

After a few hours and a little muscle and sweat, the doors are open for the first time since we had the place.

The boat is now in it's new temporary home. The last tarp I had was mostly shredded when Allen and I took it off when we went out a couple days ago. Lisa and Jim are probably glad to get it out of their yard.

Labor day fun

Hey, the gang's all here. Well, not all of us. But we still had fun.

Cave Run Lake was beautiful today.

There were sailboats cruising around and it was a warm, sunny day.

OH! I got a big one!

Oops- it was just some weeds. Back to relaxing.

Pilings are done and Jersey Larry

Jim saw some game and wanted to try hunting with a spear. Matthew was ducking and looking for cover. It turned out to be a mirage.

Jim dumping another load of dirt on the culvert pipe. It's looking like a real ramp down to the barn now.

Take 5 !

Almost done. It was a lot of work and fun, too. My thanks to the crew for all the help.

Welcome Jersey Larry to the "farm". He will be 2011 freezer stock.
