End of February

Here is the boat in it's new parking spot. We got a new cover for it so it can stay out of the barn and the horses can stay in the barn (if they want to).
And we have a new "sidewalk". At least we can get out to the driveway without sinking into the mud now. This is progress!

More driveway work

Nothing complicated- just shoveling the gravel out of the truck and into the holes and ruts.
I found it to be easier to take the tailgate off the truck to unload. There. Another ton in the driveway.

Filling in the driveway ruts

We had some mud issues the last week with all the rain we got. I had to park out by the road because the driveway was so soft.

A very big Kawasaki loader. Each scoop with that bucket was probably over 5 tons. I didn't get a full scoop.
I got a ton and filled in the biggest ruts with it. I still need more, but we can use the driveway again.

New door and Morehead gun show

This was a couple of weeks ago, but we finally got Heather's bathroom door changed. The old one was falling apart and we got an old door from Lisa that fit. Heather got to nail the trim back up by herself.

Today's entertainment was the gun show in Morehead. It was a small place, as expected. I found a few thing that I wish I could have bought and a some information that may prove useful.
It was right here in downtown Morehead, about 15 miles east of Owingsville.

Larry's back and the weather changes

Big Larry was finished up this week, so Lisa and I went over to Halsey's and picked him up. There were 3 totes for each of us. I brought a bunch because I wasn't sure how much we were getting and it's better to have more than not enough. We each got 245 lbs, so Big Larry probably went a little over 800 pounds for live weight. I thought he was a little heavier than that, but have no experience judging something that big.
The cold, snowy weather finally broke. It was in the 50's and sunny today. Most of the yard and driveway melted off.

This is more like what we expected for Kentucky weather. It felt great being outside today.

Brush pile gone (mostly)

I lit the brush pile late this morning. It burned for about 4 hours. The horses were NOT amused. They all ran to the front of the pasture and stayed there until the fire died down a lot.

It's mostly gone now. We will light it again in the spring to finish everything off. There was still too much snow in the pile to get it all this time around.

Skirting finished

Today was warm enough to cut the skirting without shattering it, so I got it all cut and put in place. It looks better and should be easier to keep the house heated and also keep the water pipes from freezing again.
The shed's place next to the driveway. Right now it's mud season, so I had to stop moving stuff into the shed from the barn, but it should firm up tomorrow or the next day. I'll finish moving everything then.
