Base cabinet has arrived

The missing base cabinet has now arrived. We put it in the middle of the countertop, but I think it will work better on the left side. It still needs to be painted before it gets fastened in anywhere.
This is the reason for the delays. The dishwasher quit on us last week. The repairman said it would cost more to fix it than it would to replace it. I only found one store that even had one in stock, and this is it. White ones were out of stock everywhere and no time frame for delivery of it. So we have a black one. Allen and I removed the old one and installed this one Saturday.

Kitchen improvements moving along

Natalie got the wall cabinets painted this weekend, so I got them put up. We added a shelf to both of them to use more of the space in them. She took the doors home with her to get them painted before next weekend. I'll get them put on when she brings them back.
I picked up the countertop this morning and brought it home and set it on the two outside cabinets. We're still missing the middle base cabinet. Allen is bringing that down with him over Labor Day. We'll get the base painted when we have all of them.

Wall is painted

Thanks to Natalie's efforts, the wall is painted. It's a very pale green, even though it's hard to see the color in the picture. Next, I have to get the cabinets painted so I can get them put up.

Drywall done

I got the wiring and outlets moved up last week, and the new drywall put up.
I followed the lead of the guy that did the living room since his turned out way better than mine ever did.
Success! It looks good, and it now ready for painting when I get the time.

Entryway to the living room covered

When the new room was added, Allen cut away part of the floor to re-route some wiring. We had a piece of plywood covering the hole until I could get it redone. I finished up the cover this morning. I still have to pick out the transition pieces for the seams and the drywall is still waiting for replacement. One step at a time, I guess.

New-to-me truck

My old Ford that I have been rebuilding was not up to the task of hauling the camper. When Allen took the camper to the Badlands with his truck and had no problems with it, I knew I needed to replace my truck. So I got this one.
It's a 2012 extended cab Chevy Silverado 4x4. The main issue the Ford was having was the front end was too light and the camper "walked" the truck all over the road. This truck should do the job just fine.

Trip to the Badlands

I took a road trip to the Badlands last week. It is a place I have wanted to see, and it did not disappoint. Absolutely beautiful countryside.
The Black Hills area was also visited. Also spectacular.
The Iron Horse Road near Custer Park has some interesting sights like these small tunnels. All the bore marks from the digging of them are still visible inside. There are several of them along the road.
The road comes out near Mt. Rushmore. Quite a sight to see.
Since there was a full moon while there, I got some pictures of the moon setting. I love the layers of color.
The layers of color were also visible in the hills. Truly awe-inspiring scenery.
Local inhabitants were these bighorn sheep, along with mule deer, antelope, prairie dog towns and others.
Like the bison. They were wandering around and not concerned with human presence. I saw them every day I was there.
