Big maple trees gone

The tree crews arrived yesterday to take down the two big maple trees near the drainage ditch. One was dead already and the other one had a bad case of trunk rot. We wanted to get them down so they didn't take our power line down when the eventually fell over.

They started with the dead one. It didn't take long to get that one cut off.

They got about halfway done with the second tree the first day. That one had a lot more limbs to chip up and was still growing.
The finished up this morning. All the big wood was left, but I knew they were going to leave it. That way, it was on the power company's preventative cutting schedule. A lot of the left wood will become firewood for Lisa and Jim.
