Stormy night

There was a double rainbow during a small break in the storms. I managed to get a picture of it.
One shaft of sunlight lit up the hill out back. It was spectacular, but only lasted for a minute or two.
Even more impressive without the camera flash and showing the dark sky behind the hill.

Exploring Grayson Lake

It's still early in the year for boating, but I thought the water would be higher than this. I still had no trouble launching, though.
There are a lot of rock outcroppings lining the lake. Some have an overhang that will disappear when the water is up to summer pool.
This Canadian Goose was not thrilled by my presence.
I ran across some very large formations, most were down the lake quite a ways. There is a lot more to the lake than I originally thought.
The dam and marina where I launched. There are quite a few jumbo houseboats docked there. One of them even has a corkscrew slide coming down from the 3rd deck.

Getting the mower ready

I finished cleaning off the underside of the deck Monday, but had to wait until today to paint it. The wind was blowing too hard yesterday.
I finished fitting the blades Jim gave me for my experiment- Husqvarna blades on a Cub Cadet. I'm hoping the better lift will give me better airflow for discharging the cut grass. I'll know how well it works in a couple of days when I mow the yard.

New windshield in the Ford

We had a touch of frost this morning, so the pictures are not as clear as I had hoped they would be.
The crack is still easy to see, though. It was directly in front of the driver's position. Not a good place to have bad visibility.
Much better now! No cracks and the glass is clean and clear.
Well, almost clean. There were a couple of bugs that got splattered on my way home. I also opted for the tinted band across the top. The old windshield didn't have it.

Project completed

Since I didn't have to work today, I stopped and got the river rock I needed to finish up the landscaping project around the HVAC unit.
With a slight breeze blowing, it was a challenge to get the landscape fabric to stay put. I ended up dumping some rock on it as I was putting it down to keep it where it belonged.
The same was true around the back of the unit. I did this because I couldn't get the mower around the unit to keep it mowed.
This looks better and should stay looking better during mowing season.

Ongoing projects

I have started the landscape project around the HVAC unit. These are the edge borders across the front.
And across the back. Next step will be landscape fabric and river rock. The place that sells it closes early, so I will have to wait for a day off to pick it up.
And this year's garden is started. I planted 3 rows of onions with a half row of shallots in with the row of red onions.

Project truck work

It felt like spring today, so I got started on one of the repairs the Ford needed, namely replacing the rear suspension shackles and brackets.
They were originals and a bit tough to get off after so many years. I replaced the driver's side today.
Looks better and should perform a whole lot better, too. It is supposed to be nice again tomorrow, so I'll try and get the other side done then.
