More Snow

We got 4" yesterday and another 2" today. A lot of it melted on the ground, but it's still white everywhere. This is the end of Donaldson Rd between Winchester and Mt. Sterling.

Snow

We got our first snow of the year this morning. I'm not sure exactly when, but there wasn't any last night when I came home.

I like having all 4 seasons.

Thanksgiving is Special

Mom with Natalie.

Cathryn with her kids and her GRANDCHILDREN

Boo and Marianne. Barry was there, too. He was just harder to get a picture of.

Most of us made it for Thanksgiving this year.

Finding some things

Mom found a nice seat on the tractor to supervise.

There is a lot of stuff in the room, but it's a big room. We found almost everything that we were looking for today.

Another short weekend

This is what I spent last Sunday getting done. That is the back door of the apartment, so we just brought them around to make it easier.

The front view.

Today's chore was to change the oil in the truck. All my stuff is at Lisa's, so I do it there. They were gone all day at a sheltie event, taking Heather with them. See Jim's blog for lots of pictures of the event.

Last week's update

This is Heather's new room. We were still moving stuff in when I took this. It's not as messy now.

From the back door looking towards the living room to the left and Heather's room on the right. Our bedroom is to the left just before the shelves.

At the edge of the kitchen looking at the living room. It's still a mess, with empty boxes and stuff to go back into storage.

New digs

This is our new temporary place, half of a duplex in Mt. Sterling. The address is 408 Natalie Drive.

We just put a couple of things in so far, but more is coming.

lookin through the living room into the kitchen. Sorry it's not a very good picture. I'll get more when we start moving the bulk of the storage room in.

Another racetrack to see

Today's races were at Mountain Park Raceway. That's in Clay City, about 20 miles from here. There was a good turnout for the races.

There were "unusual" cars- Yes, this is a Geo Tracker

The bikes were here, too. Some were street legal, but just barely. Most were just for racing.

There was the required "Ford VS Chevy" runs

And even the kids were involved. They only had a single cylinder engine in the Jr. dragster division, but they were hitting 80mph at the end of the track. It was a lot of fun and I like the horsepower on display.

Labor Day trip

Heather and I packed the truck right to the tailgate. I had hoped to get more on the truck than I did, but that always seems to happen.

I borrowed Heather's "new" cap. It fit my truck very nicely, and will keep the stuff inside dry.

The trailer was packed full, too.

A day at the races

I think this was one of the prettier cars there. It's a 1970 Dodge Challenger, purple and black. It was fast, too.

And there was this '69 Barracuda with the 440 motor package.

And a tricked out little Pontiac. I think it was an Astra, but I'm not sure of the model.

A VERY fast Ford Pinto. It was quite entertaining watching it wheelie down the track

And the fastest mini-van you have ever seen.

Trip to Cave Run Lake

It was time for some recreation, so we hooked up the boat and headed out.

We launched the boat in the Daniel Boone National Forest at Cave Run Lake.

We found a nice, unpopulated cove to stop in and we all jumped over the side of the boat. The water temperature was a bit warm at 87, but it really felt nice.

Barry and Jim swam over to the shoreline and made me come and get them. All because I didn't bring the ladder to get back into the boat.

New registration number

After all the years I've had this hull number, it was easy for me to remember.

But it's time to change, so I got the new numbers and got started. Since they are just stick-on numbers, it was an easy job.

My new numbers and registration sticker. You have to renew them every year here. In New York, it was every three years.

And I finally got the gun cabinet set up and filled up. There is one of Lisa's in there to finish filling up all the spaces. We also got the steps moved. See Jim's blog for pictures of that.

finishing the boat

I picked up this cover yesterday, but ran out of daylight and energy to get it put on. So I did it today after work. This is the first time the boat hasn't been under a roof in almost a decade. It's only out temporary, though. It will have another roof in a little while.

A "boat load"

I brought Lisa and Jim's utility trailer back from Kentucky with me so it can be loaded

I'm changing the hitch ball. Allen is helping. The boat and utility trailer take different sizes.

All hooked up and ready to take off. I'll be back in a couple weeks for the full utility trailer. And the boat is here in Winchester so I can start looking for fishing spots.

Changing over

RC gave me a day off today, so I put it to good use. Lisa showed me where the "inspection" place was and where the motor vehicle people are. It's all in a small area downtown, so it wasn't too bad. The truck was due for NY inspection this month, anyway. Now I can just skip it. I guess I'm really a Kentucky resident now. I got a bank account opened up, too.

Kentucky Arizona pictures

Arizona is getting friendlier by the day. I can just walk up and start scratching her now.

This shot is for Heather. Do you think there is going to be a dark spot on her forehead when she gets her regular hair in?

starting the move

I know this picture has nothing to do with our move, but I was a real slacker in the photo department and didn't get any shots of the first load I brought last weekend. (It was the car, 4-wheeler and a few totes.) I'll try and do better with the pictures next time. This was taken over Memorial Day weekend when Boo and Marianne were here. And no, I didn't get any of them, either. I started my new job yesterday, and it seems to be going OK. I will need to learn the towns around here as quickly as possible, though.
